Soca fans are in high spirit as Machel Montano officially announce his return to Trinidad carnival 2011.
In an official release on his website, www.machelmontano.com Montano states that “the energy from his latest recording sessions coupled with cries from his adoring fans played a major role in convincing him to return”. This, after the Soca Ambassador took a hiatus from Carnival 2010 to start new projects and explore various avenues to further develop his sound, brand and mission.
The statement on his website said, “Machel has further increased the presence of Soca music internationally as millions of television viewers worldwide tuned in to his hit collaboration, “Alright” with Latin Hip Hop star, Pitbull. The song was used during episodes of the popular series, Hawaii Five-O on CBS and Parenthood on NBC. “Alright”, entered the Billboard charts and received major airplay on mainstream radio across the globe. It will also be featured on the hit NBC T.V. show, Friday Night Lights.”
Over the “summer”, Montano was a headline artist in addition to donning a new hat as the production manager on Pitbull’s 22-city “Mr Worldwide Carnival Tour”. The tour travelled to major cities throughout the United States. Montano described the experience as “a lot of hard work”, but said that he “learned a lot from it” and “thoroughly enjoyed reaching new audiences”. The energetic performer admitted he is “very excited to come back home and perform” and will stage a “Return” concert at the Hasely Crawford Stadium featuring past, present and all-new collaborators.
He said:
“I can’t wait to engage my fans both online and in-person. My mission to bring Soca into the mainstream of popular music is becoming a reality. Soon, I am going to be working with someone that will both shock and thrill the people of Trinidad and Tobago!”
As part of his official return campagn, Montano will also stage an online competition for fans that join his Facebook page, follow him on Twitter (@ machelmontanohd) or subscribe to his YouTube channel, before January 1, 2011.
These fans will be entered into the”MachelOnlineReturn” sweepstakes, which gives them a chance to win exclusive merchandise, music and VIP access to his 2011 Carnival events.
