Buju Banton Sentencing Date Reschedule To End Of June

Urban Islandz NEWS: Embattled Reggae star Buju Banton sentencing is being pushed back for the third time since he was convicted in February.

According to reports, the Grammy-winning reggae star will now have to wait until the end of June 2011 to know how long will he spend behind bars.

The first sentencing date which was set for June 16 was later reschedule to June 23 and now to the end of June.

In Feburary, a 12 member jury found Banton guilty on three counts of drug related charges last month. The Grammy winning reggae star was found guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five kilogrammes or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine, attempting to possess five kilogrammes or more of cocaine, and for “aiding and abetting others in using a communication facility in the commission of a felony.”

Banton, 37, was however found not guilty of knowingly and intentionally possessing a firearm in furtherance of and during the course of a drug-trafficking crime.

Buju Banton is facing 15 years to life in Federal prison.
