URBAN ISLANDZ NEWS: Dancehall heavyweight Bounty Killer will show up at Western Consciousness as Rodney Pryce, the not so cross, angry and miserable part of the deejay.
Western Consciousness was officially launched on Tuesday at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston under the theme ‘The Celebration of Good Over Evil.’
The 21st staging of the popular show will seek to celebrate the best of Reggae music and bring out the positive aspects of Dancehall music, according to the show promoter Worrell King.
King noted: “This year we decided to express our sentiment of love for dancehall, for many people are of the idea that we hate dancehall. We don’t hate dancehall, cause that is where it all started.”
Western Consciousness previously host Dancehall stars Lady Saw as Marion Hall and Beenie Man as Ras Mosses among others. This year the show is looking to do the same with Bounty Killer.
“For the first time we’re having him on the show, and we want to show Jamaica that there is a positiveness in him, we will be presenting Rodney Price at Western Consciousness.”
The event will be held on April 20, at the Paradise Park, Smithfield, Sav-la-Mar, Westmoreland. Roots FM’s Denise ‘Isis’ Miller, MC for the evening.
Beenie Man as ‘Ras Moses’, Rodney ‘Bounty Killer’ Price, Tanya Stephens, I-Octane, D’Angel, Harry Toddler, Freddie McGregor, Romain Virgo and Lutan Fyah are expected to perform.
