Meet Buju Banton The Scholor

Fans will miss Buju Banton for at least half of the next decade, but it may worth the wait for his return as he plans to heed his calling for higher education.

According to reports by the Jamaica Observer, Buju Banton will be pursuing a Masters Degree while serving time for drug conviction. Banton disclosed that he have already started classes inside the Pinellas County Jail in Tampa. He will begin serving his sentence this week in a Miami federal prison where he will continue classes.

“I am already going to classes. I have passed the acceptance test and I will be studying political science and economics. I hope to get a master’s by the time I am released,” Buju said.

Buju Banton, born Mark Myrie, laments that he will make good of his troubles and will not bend under the pressures of incarceration.

“I can do anything I put my mind to; you know that. I have balls of steel. People who know me know that I am very determined and will achieve my goals despite hardships. I will not allow the system to conquer me,” Banton said.

Buju Banton was sentence 10 years in a federal prison on June 23 after a 12 member panel of jury convicted him in February on three counts of drug charges.
