Vybz Kartel Case Postponed AGAIN, Fans Protests

Dancehall Hero Vybz Kartel will have to wait longer before facing the judge to answer charges of murder and weapons possession.

The “Clarks” deejay appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate court this morning under heavy police guard. However, his attorney, Tom Tavares-Finson, said court officials informed him that the case was not placed on the list today because they had only received “a skeletal file.”

His attorney did not say when the deejay will appear before the judge.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of firearm on Monday.

Allegations are that on July 11, 2011, Palmer, along with a group of men, conspire to murder Barrington Burton aka “Bossie”, a St. Catherine based businessman/promoter. Burton, 27, was shot and killed while standing with friends alongside Walkers Avenue in the Gregory Park area.

Scores of fans of the deejay turn up for his court hearing this morning to show their support bearing plaque cards and large photos of the deejay, chanting “free the general.”

“A frame dem a frame di artiste,” said one woman said.

“Free up the boss, free up the general the man no do nutten,” said another woman with a picture of the deejay.

A tired looking Vybz Kartel forced a smile as he was being place in a police patrol car to be taken back to jail.
