Dancehall star Mavado assault trial date is set for May 2012.
The Gullyside general, whose real name is David Brooks, appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Monday to answer to a charge of assault. The charge stemmed from an incident earlier this year at the Quad nightclub in New Kingston at Bounty Killer’s birthday bash.
According to reports, an altercation occurred between an off police officers at the entrance of the club and Mavado and his entourage. Shots were fired and a close friend of the deejay, known as Conroy Edwards, was wounded and later died in hospital.
The deejay’s attorney Chris Tavares-Finson said he is confident his client will be freed of the charge.
“We know that at the end of the day, Mr Brooks will be freed of the charge against him.”
