Guinness has long been a favourite beer in dancehall culture. Now the worldwide brand will be giving back to the music by celebrating the 50 most iconic personalities in the genre.
According to Guinness brand manager, Racquel Nevins, the company will ask consumers to help select the top greatest dancehall icons.
“As we begin celebrating Jamaica 50, Guinness wants to recognise the legendary influencers and playmakers of this unique and great culture we own called dancehall,” said Nevins. “As the biggest brand in dancehall, we’re going to create a platform where our consumers can select their choice for the greatest in dancehall, and that will include DJs, producers, selectors, and sound-system owners.”
The Guinness 50 Greatest Dancehall Icons activity starts in June, 2012 and will run straight through to Independence weekend.
