Moesha Actress Yvette Wilson Dead At 48 From Cancer

Yvette Wilson, who is best know for her role in the 1990s sitcom Moesha, is dead at age 48 after a battle with cervical cancer.

Earlier this month, reports surfaced that Wilson was battling stage 4 cervical cancer and is also in need of a kidney transplant. She was asking for donations to pay her mounting medical bills as her health deteriorate rapidly.

Earlier today her Moesha co-star Shar Jackson shared her grief on Twitter and thus confirming her passing.

“Everyone plz send prayer and light to my sister and best friend Yvette Wilson. I need my prayer soldiers right,” Shar tweeted.

“F*ck Cancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh God. My heart is soooo unbelievably broken. I wanna thank all my tweeties for their prayers but God has chosen to take my sister Yvette home,” Shar added on Twitter.

Wilson, who is a San Jose State University graduate, was a regular on Russell Simmons Def Comedy Jam in the early 1990s. She got her break on TV in 1993 with her role in ABC’s sitcom Thea, before getting a major role in the mid 1990s hit sitcom Moesha, starring Brandy Norwood.

Yvette Wilson is also featured in the films House Party 2, House Party 3 and Friday.
