Dancehall heavy weight Mavado will return to court on February 12, 2013 for his assault trial.
The case was scheduled to get underway earlier this month, but a judge adjourned the trial because Mavado’s attorney, Peter Champaignie, is engaged in another trial.

Mavado, whose real name is David Brooks, was charged last year for assaulting a police officer during an alleged altercation at a nightclub in Kingston that left his friend, Conroy Edwards, shot and killed.
The incident took place at the birthday party of Alliance leader Bounty Killer. Both Mavado and Bounty Killer has not been on good terms since that incident over a year ago.
Mavado has maintained his innocence.
