Kartel Forever: Trilogy Showing Weak Sales With 400 Copies Sold

While Vybz Kartel’s murder trial dominates entertainment headlines, his latest album Kartel Forever: Trilogy seems to be on the back burner for his huge fan base.

The highly anticipated triple disc album has sold just over 400 copies since its release on September 24.

But let’s bare in mind that we’re in an era where album sales are at record lows. Even pop artists like Lady Gaga and Rihanna are feeling the pinch.

Shaggy, who sold more than 20 million copies of his 2001 Hot Shot album worldwide, only sold 741 of his new album Out of Many One Music in its first week.

Gyptian, who’s new album Sex Love & Reggae debut at the top of the reggae Billboard chart, has sold fewer than 2000 copies since its release on October 29.

Even artists with large promotional budget and big label backing are seeing dismal album sales these days. Fans now have the option to go on iTunes and Google play and purchased the singles they like instead of buying the entire album.

Kartel Forever: Trilogy comes with three discs and 60 tracks. The album retail for $21.99 on VPRecords, $24.99 on iTunes and $9.99 on Amazon.
