Earlier this week Dancehall HipHop reported that Popcaan was slapped with assault charges after an alleged incident involving a police officer.
Now we’ve learned that Popcaan, born Andre Sutherland, will go on trial on June 5 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court. But given the reputation of the Jamaican justice system, the trial will probably be delayed and drawn out.
The “Party Shot” deejay appeared before Magistrate judge Opal Smith on Wednesday to answer to charges of assault occasioning bodily harm. His bail was extended.
According to police report, the alleged incident took placed last year after the dancehall deejay arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
Popcaan and the cop reported got into a heated argument but its still unclear if things got physical.
