It might seem as if after last year’s whirlwind success Don Dem has deemed out of the limelight, but on the contrary besides various shows in Canada, Don Dem has undertaken a positive reconstruction. Renowned for their 5 diverse members, it was always expected that each would want to venture in new ideas and experiences but yet remain the unit that has become a family. Under the umbrella of Don Dem Entertainment, the group will release both together and various solo projects.

After last year rewarding promotional tour of Jamaica, Don Dem’s charismatic member Kirk Diamond has spend part of the latter of the year working in various studio in Jamaica, and alongside Don Dem’s newest member, rising artist T.G has delivered buzz worthy new music such as the recently released “Dem Nuh Real” produced by famed Armzhouse Records. Look out next month for the video!

Their next performance will be in Kingston, Jamaica at the July 10th, 4th staging of the M.I.A Awards. Kirk will then prepare to head out to Europe for an eagerly anticipated performance at U.K’s number 1 Reggae Festival “One Love Festival”.

“This summer is definitely going to be busy. with Don Dem Entertainment being a label now. we added T.G. to the roster making the team stronger than ever. working with producers who’s work we love. such as Dreday, Digital vibes and Armzhouse. plus some of our own productions as well. personally my workload quadrupled but the summer should be great for Don Dem Entertainment,” said Kirk Diamond.

Kirk Diamond was born in Spanish Town Jamaica, Kirk migrated to Canada at the age of 10 and was exposed to various music from his father and uncle who both spinned and played records on a sound system. Kirk names his family, Bob Marley, Jacob Miller, Super Cat, Sizzla, Bounty Killer, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Busta Rhymes amongst his music influences.

Although his passion for music was always within him, it wasn’t until 2007 when he joined a friend who started a dance group, and along with another member brought the musical element to the equation. “Dancing to another’s music was great, dancing to your own is even greater.”

From there Kirk perfected and honed his craft by spending countless hours in studio writing and recording while learning the ins and outs of this treacherous business. Gaining popularity and awards in Canada, Kirk understood the importance of his island vibes, and has been building and impressive and extensive discography by working and recording with various notable producers in Jamaica.

To create great music, music that will stand the test of time, one must set themselves apart in an over saturated industry, such is the aim of Kirk Diamond.
