The Young Money rapper sent his fans into a frenzy over the weekend when he announced the deal during his concert at KMEL’s Summer Jam at Oakland’s Oracle Arena.

“I just signed a deal with my motherf***** idol Jay Z,” Lil Wayne said to loud cheers. Several news outlets ran with a story claiming that Wayne signed a recording deal with Roc Nation.

But it turns out that the deal Lil Wayne was referring to is his deal with TIDAL that will see him going on board as a artist owner of the company.

“The Internet and blogs took his words out of context,” Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant tells Billboard. “When Wayne was speaking about the partnership with Jay Z, he was speaking about his new deal as an artist owner with Tidal.”

Wayne is suing his former mentor and friend Birdman for $51 million for stiffing him out of money for his new album Tha Carter V.

The New Orleans rapper also said that he wants to leave Cash Money Records.
