Flippa Mafia Appealing Drug Trafficking Conviction

Flippa Mafia is appealing his recent drug trafficking and money laundering conviction.

The dancehall star was sentenced last week to 25 years in a state prison after being found guilty on charges of first-degree distribution of cocaine, second-degree money laundering, and second-degree conspiracy.

Flippa Mafia Sentenced To 25 Years For Drug Conviction

“We were disappointed at the severity of the sentence. All he’s guilty of is being loyal and faithful in the support of his family,” Flippa Mafia’s attorney, Mike Farrell, said. “We’re appealing the entire trial as they (the court) made several legal errors.”

“We have a September date for status appeal as well as the retrial,” Farrell added.

Mafia, whose real name is Andrew Davis, would be 62 before leaving prison if he serves out his entire sentence. In addition to his lengthy sentence, he was also ordered to pay US$250,000 anti-money laundering profiteering penalty.

His brother Kemar Davis and girlfriend Marsha Bernard were also given a decade sentence for their role in the drug trafficking ring.
