Popcaan Wins Second MOBO Award For Best Reggae Act

Popcaan came out on top to win the 2016 MOBO award for Best Reggae Act. This marks the send straight win for the “Unruly Boss” deejay.

This year it was Popcaan and Alkaline who were the two hot favorites to win the award. But Spice, Protoje and Kranium were also nominated in the category. Spice became the first female hardcore dancehall artist to receive a MOBO nomination and only the third woman in the reggae category.

There is no doubt that Popcaan has been seeing great success locally and internationally over the last few years, scoring major international collaborations with the likes of Drake and Young Thug.

Despite having a great year in dancehall, Popcaan saw at least one bad patch this year with his impromptu beef with Mavado. The “Good Times” deejay made a decision to withdraw from that feud to protect his career but not without getting some pounding from some quarters of dancehall.

Congratulations to Popcaan for another MOBO Awards win.
