Vybz Kartel and WizKid Teams Up For New Single

Gazanation will be going wild for this one. Vybz Kartel and WizKid, aka Starboy, will be dropping a new collaboration soon.

The “One Dance” singer first broke the new on Twitter on Thursday signaling he is a huge fan of the incarcerated dancehall star. “Vybz kartel x Wizkid 2017!! Gazaaaaa forever,” he tweeted.

Sources inside the Kartel’s Gaza camp also confirmed with Urban Islandz that the collaboration took place earlier this month after Wizkid’s team reached out to their team. “His producer reached out to us and we felt comfortable doing this track because he (WizKid) is like one of us,” sources said. “Dancehall run the world and right now Vybz Kartel is the biggest dancehall artist.”

The Nigerian-born singer is a huge fan of dancehall music and was featured on arguably the biggest song on the planet last year “One Dace.” The dancehall infused single topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 non-consecutive weeks last year. The single also reached a milestone 1 billion streams on Spotify and likely close to that figure on Apple Music.

WizKid has in the past collaborated with another big name in dancehall, Sean Paul. His new single with Vybz Kartel will appear on his upcoming album, due sometime this year.

Earlier this month a new WizKid and Drake collaboration “Hush Up The Silence” was leaked online. This track is another dancehall party track that was first announced by the singer back in October last year on Twitter. “6god x Real Starboy about to school everybody,” he wrote on his timeline. There is no word yet on when the single will be officially released. However, his label is currently doing damage control mapping up the leak from the net.

Vybz Kartel and WizKid collaboration should arrive in the coming weeks, we’re told, but no official release date has been announced.
