Kanye West’s “Life of Pablo” Creates Streaming History When It Went Platinum

Kanye West has something to celebrate now with his latest album “The Life of Pablo.”

Not only did the album certified platinum in February, but it’s also the first streaming only album to reach one million sales. As of February this year “The Life of Pablo” has been streamed 3 billion times across all platforms including TIDAL, Spotify, and Apple Music. This makes TLOP the first streaming only album to be certified platinum, the RIAA confirmed.

TLOP is also the first streaming only album to reach No. 1 on the US charts. This latest win from Kanye West will surely give his ego a another boost since he did pushed the envelope creatively. This will also encourage more artists to release digital only albums as streaming is becoming the dominant form of music consumption. This means that Kanye West now has eight platinum albums under his belt. The G.O.O.D. Music rapper is already working on his next project which could arrive some time this year.

Last year he wanted to drop two more albums but that didn’t materialized and that year ended badly with him being hospitalized after having a mental breakdown due to exhaustion and dehydration. He also had to cancelled his Saint Pablo tour resulting in him loosing millions of dollars.
