Kevin Gates Sentenced To 2.5 Years For Gun Charge

Kevin Gates will be behind bars for another two and a half years after being slapped with a 30-month sentenced for a gun charge.

The Baton Rouge rapper appeared in court in Cook County, Illinois on Wednesday to answer to charges of felony gun possession where he pleaded guilty. A judge subsequently sentenced him to 30 months in prison for the crime which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years. His attorney, Herschel Rush, tells TMZ that he is pleased with the reduced sentencing.

Kevin Gates has been behind bars in Illinois since the end of last month after being extradited from Florida at the end of his six months jail stint for assaulting a female concert goer. He will now be transferred to the Illinois Department of Corrections where he will serve his time. This means that his fans will likely have to wait longer for his new album and to see him perform live.
