Reggae Sumfest Says Alkaline Performance Will Be Safe

Alkaline is getting ready for his second major performance in Jamaica this year at Reggae Sumfest.

His performance at New Rules in March was cut short after his Vendetta fans got rowdy. The recent incident at one of his concerts at O2 Brixton Academy in London where fans stampede prompting organizers to cancel the event had some Sumfest fans worried about his performance on that show in July.

Robert Russell moved to assure fans that security at Sumfest will be tight and that will minimize any chance of any such incident. “We have no concerns in that department. We are fully organised when it comes to crowd control,” Russell said. “We have had bigger artistes than Alkaline perform in the past, and we have never had any such issues. There are several gates where patrons will be allowed to enter from, and we have always had adequate security at our event. Plus, our venue can accommodate the crowd that is expected to turn up.”

Alkaline is already prepping for the performance which will be his biggest on the island in three years. Fans are expected to turn out in huge numbers to see the Vendetta leader in action. His recent concert New Rules saw one of the biggest crowds in Kingston in a while.

Reggae Sumfest 2017 runs from July 16-23 at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex in Montego Bay.
