Dancehall Fans Want Vybz Kartel Free After Cash Plus Boss Case Collapses

Dancehall fans have renewed their call for Vybz Kartel to be freed after Cash Plus boss Carlos Hill walked free.

Hill was the head of failed investment scheme Cash Plus which went under in 2008 leaving Jamaican and international investors taking a loss of approximately JM$10 billion. He was arrested and charged with fraudulently and attempting to fraudulently induce persons to invest in the unregulated investment scheme. He famously duped people to invest billions of dollars with the promise of big return in a very short period of time. After a 9-year delay in his trial, Carlos Hill walked free yesterday in what is turning out to be another embarrassing moment for the Jamaican justice system.

Daancehall fans have been sounding off on social media, calling for the prosecution to free Vybz Kartel of his murder charge. Last year the same sentiments were echoed following the controversial X6 murder case. “All these wealthy uptown people getting away with murder and fraud, but because Vybz Kartel is a ghetto youth them send him to prison #FreeWorldBoss,” one fan wrote on IG. “If Carlos Hill can walk free why is Kartel in prison, the system is so unfair,” another fan wrote.

Vybz Kartel will have another chance to prove his innocence at his upcoming appeal trial in February next year.
