Vybz Kartel Hits Billboard With “Fever”

Vybz Kartel continues to see mainstream success with his mega hit single “Fever” featured on his last album King of the Dancehall.

The single debut on the Billboard R&B Hip Hop Airplay chart this week at no. 50. The single Linton “TJ” White-produced single was released in May 2016 and has been one of the biggest singles in dancehall over the last year. The single has already racked up a combined 55 million views on YouTube and the music video alone has over 200 million and growing fast.

“It feels good to know that your work is on a major platform such as the Billboard chart,” TJ Records head, Linton White, said. “It’s a lot of work and effort that we’ve put into the promotion of the song in the United States, and I really want to thank all the persons involved. There’s still a lot of work to be done.”

The growth in popularity of “Fever” may result in increased sales for Vybz Kartel’s album King of the Dancehall. The track is his second hit on Billboard after tasting mainstream success in 2009 with his single “Romping Shop” featuring Spice which peaked at number 76 on the Billboard R&B Hip Hop Songs Chart. The dancehall deejay is currently serving a life sentence for murder although he is appealing the conviction. His appeal trial in the Jamaica Appeal Court gets under in February next year.
