Mystikal Pleads Not Guilty To Rape Charges Set To Stand Trial

Mystikal will be standing trial for rape and kidnapping charges after pleading not guilty.

The New Orleans rapper, real name Michael Lawrence Tyler, entered a not-guilty plea when he appeared in Caddo District Court on Monday, the NY Daily News reported. The rap veteran, 46, is currently facing charges of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping. His bond is set at $3 million and so far he has been unable to make bail, but he hopes to have the amount reduced when he appears in court again on January 18.

Mystikal turned himself in to police on August 21st this year after a woman filed a police report claiming that he held her against her will and raped her. Police in Shreveport, La. issued a warrant for his arrest and he turned himself in.

The incident allegedly took place outside of a local casino in Shreveport last year. Two other suspects linked to the case were also identified and arrested. Averweone Holman was arrested on August 18 and charged with first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping.

A woman name Tenichia Wafford was also booked for obstruction of justice after she allegedly tried to get the witness to drop the case. Mystikal and his co-accused says that they are innocent of the crime, Holman bail was set at $2 million. He faces decades in prison if found guilty of the charges.
