Vybz Kartel Delivers “One Box” While Tackling Taboo Subject

Vybz Kartel delivers a fire new single “One Box” while touching on taboo subject

The Worl’Boss first previewed the single in December last year which then cause some fans to voice their concerns about him glorifying domestic violence against women. At the time, fans were being urged to wait until the full song arrives and don’t pre-judge the track based on a snippet. But Kartel knew exactly what he was doing when he only previewed the verse to spark some controversy and build some hype ahead of the release of the full song.

Well, it’s finally here and you can listen below and be the judge. In my opinion, it’s the opposite of what the initial backlash was about, instead of glorifying domestic violence, Vybz Kartel cleverly speaks out against it a way that is socially acceptable in dancehall. “Him a go party, you affi go party to, him a give yo bun but yo naughty too… The boy waan kill yo for your pum pum, him a gwaan like say it under him foot, tell him say look you no old foot, yo f*** him and clean and yo cook,” Kartel deejay.

Whatever your views are about the song, you can always expect Vybz Kartel to come with something different and touch on some hot-button social issues. Aside from his lyrical prowess, that’s one trait that has helped him to stand out in dancehall over the years.

Florida rapper XXXTentacion announced last weekend that he has a new song with Vybz Kartel coming out soon. The announcement was met with mixed reactions from dancehall fans who thinks the young MC is just another whack rapper trying to drain some of the incarcerated deejay’s energy and popularity. Nevertheless, it will be the deejay’s first hip hop crossover single in a while.
