Watch Kendrick Lamar Intense Grammy Opening Performance

Kendrick Lamar opens the Grammy awards with an intense and well received performance.

The Compton rap legend kicked off his performance with “XXX” with his legion of masked dancers clad in military themed outfits while Dave Chappelle chimed in in-between takes to inject a little laughter. “I just wanted to remind the audience that the only thing more frightening than watching a black man be honest in America, is being an honest black man in America,” the comedian said. The lights on the stage went out for a few seconds and when it came back on, rockers U2’s Bono and The Edge were on the stage to get some of the action.

Kendrick Lamar already picked up an early Grammy for Best Rap Song for “Loyalty” featuring Rihanna off his album DAMN. The TDE rapper is also nominated for Best Rap Album and Album of the Year. Stay tuned to Urban Islandz.com for more updates.
